Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) was an importer and distributor based in San Francisco, CA from 1954-1994, they also had a location in New York. Otagiri imported ceramics, porcelain, stoneware, and giftware from many Japanese companies. The products were made in Japan and imported for distribution for sale to high end department stores and gift shops. However, from the mid 1970's to the mid 1980's Otagiri had some items specially produced just for them and those items have the name "Otagiri" brand mark. Not all OMC wares are marked, some have the gold OMC label or Otagiri written in gold, others had a yellow or gold sticker. The company was bought by Enesco in 1994.
