Tettau Porcelain started in 1794 as "Königlich privilegierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau, Schmidt & Greiner" in Bavaria, Germany. They are one of the oldest porcelain factories. Founded by Alexander von Humboldt, Johann Friedrich Paul Schmidt, Wilhelm Heinrich Immanuel Greiner and Georg Christian Friedmann Greiner, with permission from Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm II. The Greiner family ran the business until 1852. Through the years there have been many owners and changes in company name. Since 1957 the brand belonged to the Seltmann Weiden Group. We believe after 220 years of great German porcelain production, this company closed down in May 2018.
