  • Details:  A very nice rice bowl with Karako, blue and white children playing and chasing butterflies!  Karako is a Japanese term used in art depicting children playing. The literal translation means "Tang children", and they symbolize health for sons & daughters and longevity / continuity.  Another interesting detail is the number of children on these bowls.  According to experts, they are typically in sets of three, five or seven children, and the higher the number of children, the higher the pottery grade.  This bowl shows 5 children, it is made of fine porcelain, very translucent.  This size bowl is typical for serving rice, but we can see this beautiful bowl used for decor as well.  There is no mark so we're unable to tell you much beyond the description.  A wonderful addition to your Japanese inspired table or home.
