- Details: This is such a gorgeous ramen noodle and/or soup bowl! It is blue and white porcelain with delightful oriental children playing and chasing butterflies among pine trees, these children are known as "Karako". Karako is a Japanese term used in art depicting children playing. The literal translation means "Tang children", they symbolize health for sons & daughters and longevity / continuity. Another interesting detail about these bowls is the number of children. According to experts, they are typically in sets of three, five or seven children, the higher the number of children, the higher the pottery grade. This bowl features 5 children, it is made of fine porcelain and very translucent. This size bowl is typical for serving ramen noodles or soup, but we can see this beautiful bowl used for decor as well. There is no mark so we're unable to tell you much beyond the description. A wonderful addition to your Japanese inspired home.
