- Details: A highly prized, Original Valentine's Day Postcard by Ellen Clapsaddle, (1865 - 1934), sought after by collectors. Copyrighted by The International Art Publishing Company in 1912, this Valentine image has a boy with suspenders, mailing a love letter, accompanied by his puppy dog. It is used, has writing on the back, however, it's not posted, never mailed. A most generous gift for a postcard collector or an Ellen Clapsaddle fan. Also perfect for decorations and valentine displays.

- Condition: Antique - Used. Very Good Antique Condition. Original, this is not a reproduction or copy. This card is not posted, but has writing on it. Very minor issues at the borders. Looks as if two corners were lightly trimmed, but we are not experts, this may be part of the design. A very faint fold line on the left edge. All photographed for you. Ellen Hattie Clapsaddle (January 8, 1865 - January 7, 1934) was an American illustrator/commercial artist in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She is recognized as the most prolific souvenir postcard and greeting card artist of her era. Born in New York State, she went on to establish the Wolf Company, a subsidiary of the International Art Publishing company of New York City. Backed by two German brothers, (the Wolf brothers), her illustrations were used in advertising, on porcelain goods, calendars, paper fans, trade and greeting cards. She was the first and only female souvenir/postcard artist of the era to establish her own enterprise. Her work is much loved and collected all over the world.
