- Details: This vintage Saint Bernard dog pinback is a must-have for any vintage pin collector. These gentle working dogs are originally from the Western Alps in Italy and Switzerland. They were bred as rescue dogs by the hospice of the same name, Saint Bernard of Menthon and located on the Great St Bernard Pass on the Italian-Swiss border. Did you know that the first design for a pin-back button in the US was patented in 1896? Eventually they became associated with political campaigns, but today there are many different designs, collected either by theme, age, maker, etc. These buttons can be used on book bags, headbands, ID tags some even make jewelry w/them. Deck out your lapel in retro style and nostalgia!
