- Details: This glass is part of a collection of Eddie Rickenbacker glasses issued by Eastern Airlines. Eddie Rickenbacker was a WII hero who bought Eastern Airlines and managed it from 1938 to 1959. These glasses were issued, starting in 1945 through 1959, we believe there are eight glasses in total, some were issued when new planes were introduced to the Eastern Airlines fleet, for important inaugural flights and for anniversaries. This is the "Golden Falcon Electra" glass, a DC-7 airplane. In 1955 Eddie Rickenbacker ordered 7 of these planes to keep up with National and American Airlines who already had these faster planes in operation. This is the frosted glass, (they also made this glass in clear glass), it has the Eastern Airline Golden Falcon logo in a circle. Within the circle it reads: "Golden Falcon Electra First U.S. Made Prop-Jet". There's additional writing around the glass: "Built by Lockheed...Powered by General Motors, First on Eastern Airlines". On the back there's a facsimile of Eddie Rickenbacker's signature: "Compliments of Eddie Rickenbacker". These glasses are highly collectible by many different type of collectors like: Eastern Airlines, Lockheed Martin, General Motors, Advertisement, Airplane History collectors and many more. Perfect piece of airline memorabilia.
