- Pattern: Vintage Figurine, Sitting Girl Playing Banjo, Japan Imports (Discontinued)
- Made in Japan
- Vintage: 1950's
- Details: No, not the real Hummel, but a beautiful figurine and a vintage collectible in her own right. These figurines were imported by Japanese Importer Akiyama in the 1950's to compete with the real Hummel figurines which were extremely desirable and expensive at the time. This one, is hand painted by Japanese artisans and it is stamped on the bottom, "Made in Japan". Some were stamped "Gold Castle Japan", this stamp may have worn off or never been stamped. There was no intent to deceive on the part of these importers, only to compete in the same market, and obviously copyright laws were very different than they are today, as vintage manufacturers copied each other all the time. This little girl is very cute and perfect for your Christmas decor, but actually, she can be displayed year-round. Perfect in a girl's room, shelf or curio.
