Royal Copley was the name of the most popular line from Spaulding China Company.  Spaulding operated from 1942 to 1957 in Sebring, Ohio.  They produced very high quality pottery like planters, birds, figurines and ceramic items of all kinds until the late 1950's.  They used 3 different brands for marketing, (however, all their pottery was made exactly the same way), "Spaulding", "Royal Windsor" and "Royal Copley".  Spaulding and Royal Windsor were sold to high end shops and Royal Copley was sold to dime stores like Woolworth.  Ironically, Royal Copley became the best known of all their brands and today, it encompasses all their pottery as an entire class of pottery.  Their figurines are the epitome of Mid Century design.
