  • Details: Add a touch of vintage charm to your holiday decor with this pair of Lipper & Mann Christmas Angels.  They are hand-painted porcelain figurines featuring an angel reading a book and an angel holding a candle. These are fine quality, imported by L&M (Lipper and Mann), most likely from Japan. They are hand painted in wonderful detail, we love the faces, very well done. These darling angels are hard to find, these two are original, have not been re-touched, repaired or altered in any way.   There is an issue with the red gown color on both angels, perhaps a different paint was used, but it's not holding up as well as the other colors.  We've seen these repaired/repainted, they don't look bad, but we prefer the original patina even if it's a little chippy.  They both have the L&M mark.  Perfect for collectors or as a unique addition to your home decor. A most wonderful gift for a figurine collector, an angel collector, and a great addition to your Christmas decor.

Lipper & Mann was started in 1946 New York by Hal Lipper and Seymour Mann. Originally importing wares from Europe, and selling to major department stores, independent shops, jewelry stores and home furnishing stores. In 1949 their inventory and selection grew, they started importing from Japan and added figurines, dinnerware sets, tea sets, etc. They are well known for their Blue Danube blue and white dinnerware pattern (very similar to Blue Onion), we believe it was introduced in 1951. In 1963, Seymour Lipper bought out Hal Mann and changed the company name to Lipper International, Inc. In the 1980's they moved to Wallingford, Connecticut, they are still in business today.
