  • Brand:  Trifari
  • Vintage: 1970's - 1980's
  • Details:  Dazzle in vintage style with this retro pair of vintage earrings from a much loved brand, Trifari. These earrings are sure attention getters because of the unique design, we can't even describe them properly!  A black Lucite ring close to the ears, seem to be bursting with two gold comet tails.  That's the best way we can describe these.  They remind us of 1940's Art Deco style, but based on the mark (the Trifari word mark, and copyright symbol) dates these to the 1970s to 1980s.  These are gold tone, we believe they are gold plated, but we're not experts.  They have clip-on back closures. Wear them with both elegant and casual outfits.

Trifari was founded by an Italian immigrant, Gustavo Trifari.  He had been making his own line of jewelry since 1910, however, the name Trifari was not officially founded until 1925. In the 1930's Gustavo combined his brand with sales managers Leo Krussman and Carl Fishel, the company became known as Trifari, Krussman and Fishel.  They became known for high quality and unique designs, at affordable prices, worn by a prestigious clientele made up of movie stars, singers, and even First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, they grew to be one of the largest manufacturers of American costume jewelry.  In 1994 Trifari merged with Monet, and in 2000, when Liz Claiborne acquired Monet, Trifari was part of the deal.  Today, this brand is still a sought after collectible, most prefer Trifari pieces prior to the mergers since the majority of pieces were made overseas after that.
