  • Pattern:  Vintage Glass Decanter, Tava Ste Pierre Vodka Liquor Bottle with Glass Stopper. (Discontinued)
  • Vintage: 1972
  • Details:  This is a really elegant and collectible liquor bottle with a great history and makes a great decanter.  Originally manufactured by Owens-Illinois Glass Company for Ste. Pierre Smirnoff's Tava Vodka and has a wonderful octagonal shaped base and matching octagonal stopper. The top is perfect for decanting, it has four rounded pour spouts.  There is embossing on the bottom which reads:  "Liquor Bottle, 65 8 72", and the Owens Corning logo.   The stopper retains its original cork.  The 1970's advertising tag line for Tava liqueur read:  "At Ste. Pierre Smirnoff Fls, we've been making vodka for 150 years.  Tava is the only liqueur that bears our name".  Makes a lovely, and unique vintage addition to your bar.  When entertaining, it's good to have a few different liquors and wines already decanted for guests.  Makes a pretty water and juice bottle for the table too!

Ste Pierre Smirnoff has a long history.  Started in 1818 by Mr. Pierre Smirnoff when he began to make and sell vodka in Russia under his surname "Smirnoff". The business was continued in Russia by his descendants under the "Smirnoff" name. After the Bolshevik revolution the owners of the "Smirnoff" business fled to Poland where they established a firm which did business in Poland, France and elsewhere.  In August 1933, the Polish firm sold its rights for the USA to its trademarks, formulas and processes, to Mr. Rudolph Kunett who beginning in 1934, established his New York corporation to sell "Smirnoff" vodka nationally as Ste Pierre Smirnoff a Connecticut corporation, organized January 12, 1939.  It is the successor to the New York corporation of the same name. The registered trademark includes the name of the New York corporation, "Smirnoff", the picture of a crown, and the pictures of four medals granted for the original Russian vodka in 1877, 1882, 1886 and 1889. It also registered "Pierre Smirnoff" on July 16, 1935.
