Condition: Antique - Used. Fair Antique Condition, considering it's 133 years old. This is an EXTREMELY RARE book. "Chatter" was introduced as a series by De Wolfe, Fiske & Co. in 1891, originally it was a 3-book series. In 1892 three more volumes were added, making it a 6 book set. Chatter is the first book in the series, it contains a treasury of children's stories, nursery rhymes, poems and more. It has many black & white engraved illustrations. The front board has a charming color illustration of 3 girls. The cloth binding /spineback is fraying, faded and it's become separated from the pages. There is LOTS of wear on the covers, the back is worse than the front, with lots of writing, scribbles, and scratches. Pages are VERY yellowed, almost brown, (tanning) and there is an odor, but there's no mold or mildew. There is writing in pencil on the very first page only, no torn pages or corners, (except on covers, already mentioned). We never want to crease the books by fully opening them, this is why you'll notice the pictures are not always straight.
