Made in Buffalo, New York by the Gurley Novelty Company, which produced figural holiday candles from 1939 until it closed in 1994, this Jack-o'-Lantern has never been lit and retains its original Gurley cardboard label on the bottom. Gurley candles are mid-century American collectibles that serious Halloween collectors seek out, and at this size — nearly twice the scale of most Gurley pieces — this pumpkin commands real presence on a mantel or shelf. It should not be burned, to preserve its collectible value.
