This chalkware bride and groom cake topper has survived nearly a century of handling — no small feat for a material this fragile.
- Maker: Unmarked
- Materials: Chalkware, tulle, wire
- Dimensions: Approx. 6" tall, 6" wide at widest point
- Origin: USA
- Era: Vintage, 1930s–1940s
- Condition: Very good vintage condition. The chalkware and tulle have yellowed with age. The bride's bouquet is missing — a small loose piece is included that may be the bouquet and hand, should you wish to attempt reattachment. The wire structure is secure, but very gentle handling is required, as chalkware is prone to breakage. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.
The couple stands beneath an intricate heart-shaped wire arch adorned with original netting and three large pink roses, hand-painted in a soft, muted palette with delicate detail work throughout.
A rare find for the collector — lovely displayed at a bridal shower, added to a wedding cake for a classic vintage look, or repurposed for a craft project. Never clean chalkware with water; it can dissolve the plaster. (Note: the cake photo included is a fun AI-generated image for inspiration only — please don't use it to judge size, quality, or features.)
Chalkware bride and groom figures like this one were a popular wedding cake tradition from the 1920s through the 1940s, hand-cast in plaster and hand-painted before assembly — a labor-intensive process that makes surviving examples, especially with original tulle and roses intact, increasingly hard to find today.
