- Antique Hotelware, Silverplate Bowl, Greek Key Pattern, Collectibles, Elegant Serving Bowl, Traditional Tableware, ISC, (Discontinued)
- Made in: USA
- Antique: 1923
- Details: There is wonderful history behind this beautiful bowl. It is 'Hotel Ware' from International Silver Company, made for the Orrington Hotel in Evanston, IL, This bowl has an intricate Greek Key pattern along the rim. The bottom has several etched marks: "Orrington, International Silver Co, Silver Soldered 05012 01, IN, 3399-11", and a very small number 23 within a box. We believe some of these numbers are part of the hotel's inventory tracking. We also know that International Silver often engraved the year of manufacture in a box with a number, we deduct that the number 23 within a box on this piece is likely referring to the year this bowl was made,1923, same year the hotel was opened. Silver Soldered means the seams were soldered, it's silverplated but it's much stronger and durable than regular silverplate. If you choose to use this at your table, this is a deep bowl with high sides that will amply accommodate side dishes. Also beautiful on its own as part of your treasured collection / display of hotel ware. This item qualifies for Free Shipping (continental US only).
