Details: This is a heavy glass Beer Stein with Pewter lid. It has an etched/carved name "CARNES", which we understand is a Gaelic name, used in Ireland from around the year 1200 until the 18th century. The lid is made of pewter and it has wonderful scrolls and leaves all around. The pewter lid mechanism reads: "W. Germany" on one side. The initials ALWE are embossed on the bottom of the glass, which is the German company "ALWE Geschwister Weisbender UG", so this is an authentic German Beer Mug. Many Irish settlers with the last name Carnes came to the United States in the 17th & 18th centuries, like: John Carnes, who arrived in Boston, Massachusetts in 1649, and Jacob Carnes, who arrived in Pennsylvania in 1782. In the early 19th century there was a great wave of Irish families coming to America, it included many with the Carnes last name. If you are one of their proud Irish descendants, this mug will make a great addition to an existing mug collection, or as bar decor. Perfect father's day gift for a Carnes man.

Dimensions: The glass with lid, including lid handle, is 7.0 inches Tall. Glass only, (not including lid) is approx. 6.0 inches Tall, and 3.75 inches in Diameter (at its widest point). The top opening is 3.0 inches in Diameter.
Condition: Vintage - Used. Excellent Condition. There are no cracks, chips or scratches, pewter is in excellent condition as well.
