  • Made in USA
  • Antique:  circa 1890's
  • Details:  One of the rarest labels you'll see and one of the oldest labels made by Olney & Floyd.   There is no weight markings, which was required by law around 1906, and we've been able to date it to the 1890s. Truly one of a kind quality, Guaranteed Genuine/Original.  This has an incredible image of a Goddess holding up a light with electricity flowing from a battery in her other hand.  She has two babies by her side each holding a phone, this is from when phones and electricity were considered almost magical.  (The image of the lady was updated and colorized in 1906, to a more modern looking woman, still with two babies on the phone besides her, this one is the earlier, older, version).  The other side shows a well detailed corn and beans with ornate red lettering.  The colors are bright with fantastic graphics and the attention to detail is amazing considering there were no computer graphics back then.  It would take a craftsman 3 to 4 months to make the plates to produce a label like this. It wasn't until 1903 that the first lithographic offset press for paper was produced, slowly doing away with stone lithographs.  This is an incredibly beautiful stone lithograph.  It's rare to run into can labels of this kind of quality, definitely suitable for framing, and recommended to maintain this condition.  Collecting labels has become a very popular hobby, mainly because of the many beautiful and unique images/artwork that can be found.  If this is your hobby, we have lots more labels available, please feel free to browse.
