  • Pattern:  Vintage Fire King Turkey Platter.  White Serving Platter with Embossed Turkey, Vintage Anchor Hocking, (Discontinued)
  • Made in: Lancaster, OH, USA
  • Vintage: 1950's - 1970's
  • Details:  This is a lovely Turkey Platter made by Anchor Hocking and the majority have either a gold rim, (the most common), or they are all white, or have this Peach Lusterware rim.  It is a beautiful serving piece made of silky smooth milk glass with an embossed turkey (white-on-white) in the center, a highly decorated border embossed with flowers, pears and what look like cranberries all around, finished with a scalloped edge rim.  The back reads:  Anchor Hocking (with the logo), Oven-Proof, 12, 2390, Made in USA".  We don't recommend putting any Fire King piece in the dishwasher, it will lose its shiny luster, but this one is a definite NO, the Lusterware rim would be damaged, if not completely lost. We carry other items from Anchor Hocking Fire King, if interested please feel free to browse our site.

Anchor Hocking first introduced the Fire King dinnerware and glassware products in 1942 in Lancaster, Ohio.   Anchor Hocking was trying to get into a new market of affordable and beautiful cookware and with this new line of ovenproof, low-cost, low-expansion borosilicate glassware, products, they hit the jackpot. The company branded their new line of ‘classic-American’ glassware pieces as “Fire King,” and the rest is history.  People have been using and collecting their modern, mid-century designs since the very beginning.  There's a wide variety of styles, colors, sizes and shapes available, all highly durable which made Fire King a household name.  Production of this brand ended in 1976.  New Fire King is being made, marked Fire King 2000, it is no longer made of borosilicate glass, now they use tempered soda-lime-silicate glass.
