There are two bright red apples in the center and over the night sky the words "Merry Christmas". This is a very scarce label, we see many prints but not the actual original labels. There is some conflicting information on the Stadelman Fruit Company. Their website states they were established in 1893 by Peter J. Stadelman in The Dalles, Oregon. However, another biography says Wilbur Stadelman began the company in 1924 in The Dalles, Oregon. Either way, they expanded through the years and have locations in Oregon as well s Yakima, Washington. Over the past five generations Stadelman Fruit has become one of the largest growers of cherries, pears, and apples in the United States. Oregon and Washington states provide the perfect farming climate of warm, arid, sunny days, and crisp, cool evenings. Nutrient-rich volcanic soil and fresh, cold, glacier water from surrounding mountains also help them produce top quality fruit. They are still in business today.
The lithographed label was produced by Louis Roesch Company Lithography of San Francisco, California. The company was established in 1879. We found some brief history from The International Printer dated 1906, in it we found that after the huge San Francisco fire in April, 1906, which destroyed as much as three-quarters of the city, that same year Louis Roesch was already constructing a new 2-story building for his company to continue. And continue it did, they are one of the few lithographers still in operation, perhaps the only one in San Francisco.
