- Pattern: Vintage Road Map, Mobilgas Pegasus Logo Socony-Vacuum Oil, Pennsylvania
- Made in USA
- Vintage: 1952
- Details: Lots of history in this map! Made by Rand McNally, the number one name in maps, it is for Pennsylvania, Delaware and the Chesapeake Bay Area in bright red, white and blue. On the cover, the Pegasus, or flying horse, the famous Mobilgas logo. Interestingly, the Vacuum Oil Co., used used a gargoyle prior to adopting the Pegasus. In 1931, when Standard Oil Co of New York (SOCONY), and Vacuum Oil combined to form Socony-Vacuum Oil Company, the newly created company adopted the Pegasus trademark. The back cover is full of advertisement for the different products from Mobilgas and Mobiloil. This map is the perfect gift for a collector, whether collecting for nostalgia, a gas station collection, local history, map makers, or memories of a visited/lived-in destination, there are many reasons to start or continue this great and relatively inexpensive hobby. If this is your hobby, we hope this map brings you joy. Great going away present for someone moving to or leaving the state of Pennsylvania.
