  • Made in USA
  • Vintage: 1929 - 1935
  • Details:  Absolutely beautiful silverplate porringer, very old, almost an antique, and extremely rare!  Deauville is a pattern from Community Plate, it has intricate triangle shapes all along the curved border.  It also has a gorgeous open-scrolled handle, typical of vintage porringers.  These little dishes were a traditional baby christening gift, today people not only collect them, but they are used as decor, as coasters, to collect loose change, under-plates for small pots, to serve nuts, olives and other small food items, we're sure you can think of more. This was made by Community Plate in 1929, (today they still sell this pattern in a flatware set). Later in the 1930's, Community issued a matching porcelain dinnerware set, also called Deauville.  This porringer is a wonderful addition to your Deauville sets, as decor, or as a very special baby gift for those who appreciate beautiful vintage items.

Community Plate was founded in 1899 using the "Community Plate" mark, and have a very extensive and unusual beginnings. In 1880, the Oneida Community voted to transfer much of the common property to a joint-stock company to be known as Oneida Community Ltd.  Oneida Community purchased the Wm A. Rogers and 1881 Rogers companies in 1929 and started producing a line of products using those companies' marks.  In 1935, Oneida Community changed its name to Oneida Ltd.  They have been through good times and very hard times, including filing bankruptcy in 2006. However, through many mergers, acquisitions, buyouts and plant closings, they managed to stay in business. In 2011 Oneida Limited was acquired by Monomoy Capital Partners a venture capital firm that the following year merged Oneida with Anchor Hocking and created EveryWare Global. EveryWare Global was renamed The Oneida Group in 2017. Today they manufacture both consumer goods with brands such as: Oneida, Westminster and Stanley Rogers, as well as those for the food service industry which include: Schonwald, Sant'Andrea, Oneida, and Buffalo.
