UCAGCO was founded in 1850 under the name Abe Mayer & Co, with offices in New Orleans and New York. They officially took the trademark UCAGCO (which stands for United China and Glass Company) in the 1930’s. Ucagco was primarily a creator and distributor of dinnerware and glassware. After WWII was over, the company’s agent in Japan (S.A. Stolaroff) signed the very first contract allowing imports from Japan. In 1956, UCAGCO was sold to Sammons Enterprises.
