Rust Craft was founded by Fred Winslow Rust, in Kansas City, Missouri,1906. He grew quickly and was joined by brother Don to help with sales.  Fred is credited with many "firsts" in the greeting card industry like: the “French folded” card; the style of pointed flap envelope we still use today. He introduced the first Anniversary and Graduation cards, and cards in braille.  They ran a successful greeting card company for many years.  Ziff Davis (who also owned Northcross Greeting Card Co), purchased Rust Craft in 1980. Shortly after, in 1981, Windsor Communications purchased both Rust Craft and Norcross Greeting Card Company, unfortunately they filed bankruptcy.  American Greetings purchased the remaining assets of Rust Craft and Norcross.
