Details: This is a set of 4 traditional soda fountain, retro-look, ice cream sundae glasses used in malt shops years ago. They are ribbed with gentle notches on the rim (meant to hold your straw in place). There are no markings on the bottom, many manufacturers did not originally mark their wares, these have a simple 8 on the bottom. We could not trace the provenance of this specific glass, we found they are still being made today, mostly overseas and still being sold in the U.S. However, the new ones we found are not ribbed, but rather have plain sides and they are not nearly as heavy as these are. Based on where we purchased these glasses, we estimate them to be from the 1970's, most likely made by Anchor Hocking, Libbey or Arcoroc, they have been known to stamp a simple number on their glassware. Since we could not confirm the maker or age of these glasses, we hope you purchase them because you love their nostalgic look and not because of any provenance or pedigree, they may or may not have.
