  • Pattern:  Antique Cigar Box Label, Blue Ribbon, Original Lithograph, A J Golden
  • Made in: Bonneauville, PA
  • Antique:  1909 - 1920
  • Details:  This is a very old cigar box label from Blue Ribbon Cigars, lithography by M.H. Sevis & Son, in Springvale, PA.  This lithograph is a great example of the high quality embossing and gilding that was achieved in the early 20th century.  It features a dark blue band with the words "Blue Ribbon" written in large font plus "Golden's It's Mild" on smaller ribbons.  The background is bright green with lots of gilded scrolls and flowers.   The Blue Ribbon cigar was introduced by the E.L. Golden cigar company in 1909, in Bonneauville, Pennsylvania.  This is the original label from 1909 (we also carry the post 1920's Blue Ribbon label if you'd like to own the set).  This is great as a collector's item, framed and hung in a study, library, man-cave or bar.  It is a rare find in this condition, an original piece of cigar history, suitable for framing, and recommended to maintain this condition.

In 1909 the E.L. Golden cigar company introduced BLUE RIBBON as a brand of cigars. The Golden's Cigar manufacturing company was the most successful business to ever operate in Bonneauville, PA. The company started in 1895 and produced many other cigar brands including:  Bokay-Grande, Bunney Boys, Penn Rose, Two Homes, Grande, Newcomers  and others.  They produced their last cigar in March of 1943, however, based on research, we believe the brand name is still owned by the Golden family.
