• Details:  A fun figural Frog Brooch from KUO (1987 - 2008).  This looks like an informal nod to the Jackie Kennedy frog brooch.  Of course this one is not even close to that fine piece of jewelry, but it is the same shape/style, very well made, and just as much fun to wear.  If you like frogs, this one is not to be missed.  It's made up of pave set clear rhinestones, and one large deep blue rhinestone for the eye.  It is silver tone and has a safety clap.  We know KUO's designs (Robert Kuo, not David Kuo), from the 1980s included nature inspired figural pins and brooches of gold & silver tone with rhinestones, so we dated it circa 1980's.  It is marked on the back “KUO” in capital letters on an oval base.  This frog will add a touch of whimsy and charm to any outfit, scarf, purse, however you want to style it!

KUO costume jewelry was started by Robert Kuo, an immigrant from Beijing who  learned the craft of jewelry and enameling at the age of 15, from his father. He came to the USA in 1973, started his first company, KLOISON K in 1976 making cloisonne household wares and accessories.  In 1984 he founded Robert Kuo, Ltd., for the production of lamps, decorative furniture, and jewelry.  His brand, KUO was registered in 1987, for the production of jewelry, and was active until 2008.
