Chief Charley's was a family style restaurant, founded in 1965 by Charles Haag. They had a large following, and were in business for over 25 years, but the decline of that style restaurant; with the salad bar, the good food, reasonable prices, and a lively atmosphere, forced them to declare bankruptcy in 1989. Charles Haag died in February 2003, at the age of 89. This was not just a restaurant but a Florida institution.
