- Pattern: Vintage Cigar Box Label, Red Tips Cigar, Black Horse Head, Original Lithograph, Equestrian, Gilded
- Made in USA
- Antique: 1920's
- Details: This is a very old cigar box label from Red Tips Cigars. It is a lithograph and it features a beautiful black horse-head within a horseshoe and a horse whip besides it. Our guess is this was a marketing strategy to indicate this is a racing thoroughbred, and so the cigars were just as great. This label was made by Consolidated Lithographing Corporation in Brooklyn, New York and is a great example of the high quality embossing, gilding, and the beautiful colors that were achieved with a lithograph. Copies of this label are everywhere, an original is a RARE find in this condition, unused, suitable for framing, and recommended to maintain condition. Great as a collector's item, for a cigar aficionado, collector. Would look wonderful framed and hung in a study, library man-cave or bar. A great gift for a horse lover, or someone into horse racing.

Chromolithography is a unique method for making multi-color prints. Chromolithography, became the most successful of several methods of color printing developed by the 19th century.
The Consolidated Lithographing Corporation was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1925 by an immigrant from Romania, Jacob A. Voice. Mr. Voice was employed by Wm Steiner & Sons & Co.(an earlier lithography company), and by 1911 he had organized his own company. Consolidated Lithographing Corp was formed from a merger of the Wm Steiner & Sons company and Mr. Voice's company. In 1925, the name of his firm changed to Consolidated Lithographing Corporation. It became one of the largest printers of paper labels in the early 20th century.
