• Details:  This is a beautiful set of heavy pressed glass coasters with a silver plated border by Leonard Silver Manufacturing Company.   The style is simple yet elegant, but we could see these fit very well in a more casual decor.  There is a maker's mark on both the glass as well as the silver rim.  The silverplate rim reads: "Leonard Silverplate" , the glass reads: "Italy".  They look beautiful and provide protection for your furniture and linens from stains and spills, however, we've seen these used as plant saucers, jewelry catchalls, soap dishes, etc.  Used as intended, they provide another level of decor to your cocktail parties, table settings and bar.  They would be a great addition to your home however you decide to use them.

• Dimensions:  4.5 inches in Diameter, and 0.75 inches Tall.

Leonard Silver Manufacturing Company was founded by Leonard Florence in Chelsea, Massachusetts.  Leonard learned to work with silver while employed at Raimond Silver Manufacturing Co.  In 1968 Raimond Silver was sold and Leonard acquired some of the sales profits.  He then opened his own company, Leonard Silver in 1969.   He operated a very successful business specializing in low cost silver plated items.  To keep his costs low, many of their items were manufactured in Spain, Italy and India.  They were eventually bought out by Towle Silversmiths in 1979.
