Details: This is a wonderful old map made by Rand McNally. On the cover is the Champlin Presto Gasoline logo, unfolded there are two other ads for Champlin Oils. Champlin Refining Company was founded in Enid, OK by Hiram Champlin in 1917. In 1984, by then part of the Union Pacific Corporation, the entire retail operation was sold to American Petrofina and the plant was closed. One side has the State of Missouri map and the other side has a nice advertisement for Champlin plus a map of the entire US. We've dated this map to 1948 based on the Rand McNally mark: "0-46-3606V-5". This map is the perfect gift for a collector, whether collecting for nostalgia, a gas station collection, local history, map makers, or memories of a visited/lived-in destination, there are many reasons to start or continue this great and relatively inexpensive hobby. Condition: Vintage - Used. Average Vintage Condition. There are several tears on the fold lines, lots of yellowing and stains. These are all acceptable due to age/use/wear and this patina is the reason why so many people love old maps. The brass pieces are weights to keep the map in place for photographing.
