  • Pattern:  Vintage Coffee Canister, Blue & White Blue Onion Pattern, Ceramic
  • Vintage: 1950's - 1960's
  • Made in Japan for Arnart Imports, Inc.
  • Details:  A really nice container to store your instant coffee crystals.  This is one of the many pieces from the extensive Blue Onion collection imported from Japan by Arnart.  Blue Onion has a long history going back to 1790's China, then Meissen released their Blue Onion in the 18th century, since then it has been copied by other manufacturer's throughout the world.  Just to give you an idea, it's been made in Germany by:  Winterling (Bavaria), Schumann (Bavaria), Wedgwood, Villeroy & Boch, etc.  In England by: Myott Staffordshire,  Royal Art, House of Prill, etc.  In Japan by:  Arnart, Sone, Castle Court, etc.  In Poland by: Baum Brothers.  In Czechoslovakia by Thun and others in USA, France, Thailand, etc.  Plus, two other patterns: Blue Danube and Blue Nordic are strikingly similar to Blue Onion.  So if you're looking for Blue Onion, there's plenty out there to start or complete your collection.  Please check Dimensions below, this is not a typical "canister size" coffee container, it's just slightly larger than a spice canister.
  • Materials: Ceramic
  • Dimensions: 7.5 inches Tall (including lid), approx. 3.5 inches in Diameter, 3.25 inches in Diameter at foot.
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.   Very Good Condition.  We didn't give it an Excellent rating because it's missing the original porcelain spoon, but there are no issues with the canister.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.
Arnart Imports Inc., is still in operation (as of this writing) and is currently located in 230 Fifth Avenue, New York. The company specializes in porcelain gifts and decorative accessories. First registered trade mark is the Crown and A’s mark registered April 30, 1953.  However, we have read that in 1957 they changed their name to "5th Avenue" after securing US based offices, and stopped using a printed stamped 'made in Japan' pottery mark, opting instead for a removable 'made in Japan' stickers.
